Real, currently-operating family strawberry farm and cafe on Chester Pass Road, ~10 min outside Albany WA, run by Neil and Lyn Handasyde since 2018 on this site (Neil farming strawberries since 1991 at a previous King River property). Now a large operation (48 ha, hundreds of thousands of plants, ~60 staff) built primarily around a big cafe, retail shop, freeze-drying operation and children's playground; not a duplicate of any existing listing (no other Albany/Great Southern WA farm in the current 290-farm list). PICK-YOUR-OWN: genuinely offered as a real activity historically and as recently as the 2024/25 season -- confirmed via the farm's own Instagram (27 Dec 2022 post with explicit pricing/hours; 30 Dec 2024 'Out having fun picking strawberries 10:00-3:00 daily' post) and a still-live March 2022 blog post on their own website describing how visitors get a picking box and are shown to the paddock. Two independent 2021 write-ups (Buggybuddys, Seniorocity) and an evergreen Buggybuddys destination-guide page also describe on-farm PYO during the Oct-May season. CAVEAT: the current (July 2026) homepage, 'Our Farm', 'Our Story' and 'Cafe' pages make no mention of PYO at all, focusing solely on cafe/shop/playground, and a detailed Farm Weekly trade-press profile published 26 June 2026 covering the business in depth also omits any mention of picking. None of the ~15 most recent Tripadvisor reviews (2022-2026) describe customers picking strawberries themselves (only buying them). This gap between strong historical evidence and silence in the newest sources means PYO may have been scaled back, made ad-hoc, or simply de-emphasised in marketing -- recommend a call-ahead check and/or a clear 'confirm before visiting' caveat if published.
