Pick Your Own Farms

List your pick-your-own farm

Own a pick your own farm? A verified listing puts your season, opening pattern and contact details in front of families planning a day out, and keeps them accurate through the season.

Listings show what you grow, your typical picking window, booking and price notes, and a directions link. Featured placement is available and is always clearly labelled — it changes position only, never the facts. Email [email protected] to get started.

What a free listing includes

A standard listing is free and includes your farm's name, address and phone number, the crops you grow, your typical season window for each crop, whether booking is required, price notes if you'd like to share them, and links to your website or social pages. Your listing appears on the relevant crop, region and state pages, and in search results for people looking in your area. We write listings in plain, practical language, matching how the site describes every other farm.

How verification works

We research every listing from your own website, social pages and any public tourism information, then mark it with a last-verified date. If your details change — a new crop, different season dates, updated prices or a change to your booking policy — email us and we'll update the listing. Because seasons and opening days shift with the weather, we always include a "call ahead" note on farm pages, which protects both your visitors and your farm from a wasted trip.

Featured placement

We offer paid featured placement, which gives a farm more prominent visibility on its region and crop pages — for example, appearing near the top of a farm list or in a small featured section. Featured placement is about visibility, not ranking: it doesn't affect the season information, verification status or accuracy of your listing, and featured farms are labelled as featured so visitors can tell the difference. We don't publish traffic numbers or promise a set number of visitors, because we don't think that's an honest thing to guarantee.

How to get listed

Email [email protected] with your farm name, address, the crops you grow and their typical season, your phone number and website or Facebook page. Let us know if you're interested in featured placement and we'll follow up with details. There's no obligation, and a standard listing stays free whether or not you take up a featured slot.

The details that make a listing genuinely useful

The bare minimum gets you listed. What actually saves you phone calls is the detail that answers a visitor's question before they ring the shed. If you can send any of the following, we'll use it:

  • Where people actually turn in. The gate or car park entrance, if that differs from your postal address. This is the single most common cause of a lost visitor.
  • Crop by crop, your usual window. Not exact dates — a normal-year estimate is fine, and it's what we publish. We pair every window with a call-ahead note because weather moves things either way.
  • Your opening pattern. Daily, weekends only, school holidays, by appointment, or announced week to week on social media.
  • How pricing works at the gate. Entry fee, pay by weight, a fixed-price container, or eat-as-you-pick. Rough figures are fine and we'll mark them as indicative — see how pick-your-own pricing works for the shapes we recognise.
  • Whether booking is needed. Farms that take walk-ins appear on our no-booking farms page, which is one of the most-used filters on the site.
  • The practical extras. Whether dogs are welcome, whether there's a cafe or kiosk, toilets, pram and wheelchair access, shade, card or cash, and whether you supply containers.
  • Anything beyond picking. Tours, animal feeding, tractor rides, workshops or farm stays can be listed under farm experiences.

If you don't know some of it, leave it out. We'd rather show less than publish something we can't stand behind.

What happens after you send your details — and what we don't do

Once your details arrive, we draft the listing in the site's house style, cross-check anything we can against your own website or social pages, and publish it with a last-verified date attached. If something you've sent doesn't match what we can see publicly, we'll email and ask rather than guess. You don't need an account, a login or a subscription, and nothing about your listing expires.

It's worth being just as clear about what we are not. We're a directory, not an agent. We don't take bookings or payments on your behalf, we don't take a commission on anything you sell, and we don't sell your enquiries on as leads. Visitors get your phone number and your website and they contact you directly — we never sit between you and your customer. We also don't inspect, accredit or endorse farms, so a listing here is a signpost rather than a seal of approval, and we say so plainly on the editorial policy page.

The one thing we ask in return is a quick email when something changes, especially an early or late season, a closure, or a change to booking. A listing is only worth having while it's right, and you're the only person who knows your paddock. If you'd rather not be listed at all, tell us via contact and we'll take the page down without argument.

Already listed? Add the badge

If your farm is already in the directory, there is one optional extra you might find useful: a small "Listed on Pick Your Own Farms" badge or link for your own website. It gives your visitors a way to check your season and details against a directory that keeps them current, and it helps more people find the site — and therefore find you. Everything you need is on the link to us page: find your farm, copy the snippet, done. If you can't edit your own website, that page also gives you the one line to paste into a Facebook page, a Google Business Profile or a Linktree instead, which counts just as much.

It is entirely optional and it changes nothing about your listing, which is free and stays free either way.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything to list my farm?

No. A standard listing with your farm's crops, season window, contact details and links is free. We only charge for optional featured placement, which is about extra visibility on region and crop pages, not a requirement to appear in the directory at all.

How do you decide what season dates to publish for my farm?

We start with whatever your website or social pages say, and check that against public tourism listings where available. If you send us your own season dates directly, we'll use those and mark the listing verified from your email, so it's worth sending updates as your season changes.

What does featured placement actually change?

It changes where your listing appears — higher up a region or crop page, sometimes in a small featured strip — and it's clearly labelled as featured. It does not change your season information, your verification status, or push another farm's accurate details down in search results.

Can I update my listing after it's live?

Yes, any time and as often as you like. Email [email protected] with what's changed — new crops, updated season dates, a different phone number, price or booking policy — and we'll update the listing and refresh the last-verified date so visitors know it reflects your current season.

Do I need a website or a Facebook page to be listed?

Not at all. Plenty of good farms run on a phone number and a hand-painted sign. If you have no web presence for us to check, the details you send us become the source we work from, and we note that the listing was confirmed by the farm directly. A phone number people can actually reach you on matters far more to us than a website does.

Do you take a commission or charge visitors a booking fee?

Neither. We don't handle bookings, sell tickets or process payments, so there is nothing for us to take a cut of — whatever a visitor spends at your gate is entirely yours. Enquiries go straight to you rather than through us, and we don't on-sell them to anyone else.

We only open a few weekends a year, or by appointment. Is that still worth listing?

Yes, and those farms often benefit most, because a short window is exactly what people struggle to find out about in time. Tell us the pattern in your own words — three weekends around the peak, Sundays only, groups by arrangement — and we'll publish it that way rather than forcing it into a template that implies you're open more often than you are.

Can I be listed if we run farm activities but no pick-your-own?

You can. Alongside picking, we list tours, animal encounters, tractor and wagon rides, workshops, events and farm stays under farm experiences. Send the same practical detail — what runs, roughly when, whether it needs booking and any age or safety requirements — and we'll place you under the categories that fit.
