The Granite Belt runs the opposite way, with strawberries October to May and cherries in a short window around late November to December. Always check with the farm before driving out.

Several Brisbane-area patches, including Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm and Oasis Berries, recommend or require a booking, especially on weekends, while some Bundaberg and Granite Belt strawberry farms allow casual walk-ins. Booking rules can change through the season, so it's worth checking the farm's website or calling ahead.

Brisbane/SEQ and the Sunshine Coast are the places to go, with farms like Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm, Sunray Strawberries and Rolin Strawberry Farms typically picking from May or June through to October. The Granite Belt around Stanthorpe is Queensland's only cherry-growing district, with a short Christmas-timed season usually running through November and into December. It's a small, weather-sensitive crop that tends to sell out before New Year, so plan an early-season visit and call ahead to check what's left on the trees.

The Granite Belt adds apples from February to May and stone fruit like peaches and plums around Nicoletti Orchards over summer.
