Pick-your-own sunflowers on Phil Deguara's family cane farm at North Eton, about 35km and 15-20 minutes from Mackay. Sunflowers began as a break crop and grew into ticketed U-Pick weekends drawing thousands of visitors. You pay field entry plus $2 a stem to cut your own, and you bring your own scissors and basket.
