Farm festivals & open days on Australian farms

New South Wales carries eight event listings, split fairly evenly between the Central Coast and the inland fruit districts. Goodmayes Orchard at Somersby runs an annual on-farm Harvest Festival with sunflower picking, a kids' craft tent, local makers and picnic space; entry was advertised at $10 per car for 2026, so recheck it each year. Nearby at Kulnura, Eastcoast Beverages opens for Bambino's on the Farm, pairing orange picking and a tractor-trailer orchard tour with cooking demonstrations. Further west at Young, Ballinaclash Orchard & Cellar Door runs a Spring Blossom Festival alongside cherry pie-making classes and cellar-door tastings.

Victoria has the deepest list here with ten entries, weighted towards the Yarra Valley, the Dandenongs fringe and the Mornington Peninsula. CherryHill Orchards at Wandin East and Coldstream runs a ticketed spring Blossom Festival built around scavenger hunts, story time, lawn games and marshmallow toasting. Hawkes Farm at Boneo sells a Ride 'n' Pick open day — roughly 45 minutes on the tractor, a talk with Farmer Richard and a bag of carrots to take home, priced at $15 per person for the 2026 Easter tour with under-twos free. Spring Hill Peony Farm opens its paddock for short picnic events with horses and calves to meet.

Queensland's four listings are spread a long way apart — Caboolture, the Scenic Rim, the Darling Downs and the Bundaberg district — so check the drive before you commit to a date. Oasis Berries at Caboolture holds a seasonal Strawberry Festival with children's rides, food vendors, door prizes and picking. Ellia's Garden at Rosevale runs public farm days around tractor hay rides, animal feeding and a hay-bale castle. Windy Acres Farm at Westbrook leans educational, with beekeeping basics, children's bee sessions and a honey-harvest experience alongside floristry and painting.

South Australia's five listings favour flowers, olives and wine over orchard fruit. Hahndorf Lavender Estate runs a ticketed Lavender Bloom Festival timed to the January flowering. In the Barossa, Kies Family Wines offers hands-on grape picking and stomping with winemaking education; the published harvest listing showed $50 adult and $30 child. In the Adelaide Hills, Charleston Farm has the widest programme of the five — Snip and Sip sessions on a working flower farm, plus tailored private workshops and events arranged directly with the grower. Down on the Fleurieu, Peninsula Providore Farm at Tooperang pairs Grove Discovery Tours, advertised for the first weekend of each month, with its own workshop and event dates.

Western Australia's five listings run from the Perth Hills down towards the south-west. S&R Orchard at Walliston is the most festival-driven of them, with separate Blossom, Fruit Picking and Autumn festivals; the official site says every visit includes tractor rides and an animal-farm area. Harvey Farm Barn at Cookernup holds regular family days with guided educational farm tours, train rides, seedling-planting workshops and sensory activities, run separately from its pick-your-own sunflower window. Orchard Glory Farm Resort adds sheep-shearing demonstrations to sheep and alpaca feeding. Prices were not published for most of these, so confirm before travelling.

Tasmania punches well above its size with eight listings, clustered around the Huon Valley, the Coal River district and the north-west coast. Richmond Peonies & Cherries holds an annual ticketed peony open day with paddock access, picnicking and guidance on picking harvest-ready stems; the 2025 page listed $5 per peony stem. Turners Beach Berry Patch hosts summer music events and an annual VW exhibition at the working berry farm, free to enter in 2026. Mount Gnomon Farm at Penguin runs markets, performances and farm-to-table celebrations alongside its geodesic-dome farm stays.

The ACT's four listings all sit within a short drive of the city, which makes them unusually easy to fold into an ordinary weekend. Majura Valley Farm opens for sunflower maze and harvest visits with animal meet-and-greets, a farm shop and paddock walking; 2026 entry was free with stems at $3 each, capped at five per adult, and free registration was essential. Twyllo Flower Farm at Tharwa runs the small-group Sip + Snip picnic with hand-picking, food and live music, priced at $189 per guest in 2026. Beltana Farm at Pialligo builds a winter program around guided truffle hunts, long lunches and kitchen masterclasses.
