Some of the best days on a farm happen only a few times a year. The farms below hold dated public events centred on the working farm — harvest festivals, open-farm days, blossom days and sunflower weekends — with picking, food, activities and family fun.
Event dates move year to year and popular days sell out or fill early, so check the farm's current event page for this season's dates and tickets before you plan around one.
44 verified farm festivals & open days experiences across 7 states, each checked against the farm's own sources.

These listings are desk-checked against each farm's own website, booking page or official social channel on the date shown — we don't book, inspect or endorse them. Session times, prices and availability change with the season, so confirm directly with the farm, and follow their safety, hygiene and animal-contact instructions on the day.
Prices aren't quoted on a common basis — some farms charge per person, some per family, some per night, and some fold the experience into general farm entry. Of the 44 listings on this page, 13 publish an indicative price; the rest ask you to check with the operator. Each farm's own page shows the pricing note we hold and links out, so confirm the current figure before you book.
We haven't verified any farm festivals & open days in Northern Territory yet. That's a gap in this directory rather than a claim there are none — if you run or know one, tell us about it.
The word "event" covers three quite different things on this page, and mixing them up is the most common way a day out goes sideways. Roughly a third of these listings are event-only — the farm is closed to casual visitors and opens for a named, dated occasion. The rest run on booking, either as a rolling calendar of small sessions or as something you arrange directly with the grower.
| Format | What it looks like | Examples from this list |
|---|---|---|
| One-off ticketed festival | A fixed weekend, tickets released ahead, capacity capped and often sold out well before the date | Goodmayes Orchard, Richmond Peonies & Cherries, Hahndorf Lavender Estate |
| Recurring open or family day | Several dates across a season, same format each time, usually more forgiving if you miss one | Ellia's Garden, Harvey Farm Barn, S&R Orchard |
| Booked session or workshop | Small numbers, run on request or a published calendar, often the same farm's quieter offering | Charleston Farm, Earthenry Farm, Windy Acres Farm |
A practical order of operations: find the date first, then work out the drive, then buy. Several of these farms sell out — Greenfinch Farm at Grose Vale notes that sessions have gone before the day — and a few, like The Apple Farm at Ob Flat, are private-function venues that only occasionally open to the public. If a workshop rather than a crowd is what you're after, the farm workshops category is the better starting point.
Farm events are pinned to the crop, not the calendar, so the same farm can feel like a completely different day out three months apart. These are normal-year patterns rather than guarantees — a warm winter or a wet spring shifts everything by a fortnight or more, and the farms themselves will tell you so.
If you are planning around a month rather than a farm, the in-season calendar and the national season calendar guide are the quicker way in.
Dated public events centred on the working farm -- harvest festivals, open-farm days, blossom days and shearing days. On this page we list 44 Australian farms offering farm festivals & open days, each checked against the operator's own website, booking page or official social channel on the date shown.
We list 44 verified farm festivals & open days farms across 7 states, grouped by state below. Availability and session times change with the season and the weather, so confirm directly with the farm before you travel — we don't book, inspect or endorse them.
Usually. Most farm festivals & open days run on set session times, by appointment or as ticketed events, and any farm stays are booked ahead. Each listing shows its access type — walk-in, booking required, seasonal or by appointment — and links to the farm's own booking page where one exists.
It varies by farm and by what's included, and prices aren't quoted on a common basis — some are per person, some per family, some per night. Of the 44 farm festivals & open days listings here, 13 publish an indicative price and the rest ask you to check directly with the operator. Each farm's own page shows the pricing note we hold for it, and links out to the farm so you can confirm the current figure before you book.
It varies more than you would like. A few operators publish most of a year at once — Windy Acres Farm at Westbrook set out a 2026 programme of floristry, bee sessions and honey-harvest dates — while others announce a single weekend a few weeks out through their social channels, which is how The Apple Farm at Ob Flat handles its occasional open days. Where a festival has run annually for years the rough window tends to repeat, but crop timing moves the exact date. If a particular weekend matters, follow the farm's own page rather than waiting for a directory to catch up.
Treat it as a working paddock rather than a fete. Closed shoes, a hat and sunscreen cover most of it, plus a warm layer for exposed hilltop and coastal farms where the wind does the deciding. Carry some cash as a backup, because gate entry and independent stallholders are not always card-friendly, and bring a box or bucket for anything you take home. Check the ticket page for what is included: some events cover picking in the price while others charge per item, as Majura Valley Farm does at $3 a sunflower stem. Our what to bring guide has the full kit list.
Often, but picking is usually one element of a bigger day rather than the whole point of it. Goodmayes Orchard folds sunflower picking into its Harvest Festival, Eastcoast Beverages puts orange picking alongside its tractor orchard tour, and Oasis Berries runs strawberry picking through its Strawberry Festival. Plenty of others have nothing to harvest at all — truffle hunts, blossom viewing, shearing demonstrations and music days included. Read the activity list on the individual listing before promising anyone a full basket, and start from the crop pages instead if taking fruit home is the real reason for the trip.
