A tractor, wagon or hay ride turns a farm visit into an outing. The farms below advertise a real ride as part of the visit — an orchard tractor tour, a trailer out to the picking rows or a seasonal hayride — rather than machinery you only look at.
Rides are often weekend-only or tied to a picking session or event, and weather can cancel them, so check the day's schedule with the farm first.
28 verified tractor & wagon rides experiences across 5 states, each checked against the farm's own sources.

New South Wales carries seven listings, and they split neatly by how the ride is sold. Calmsley Hill City Farm at Abbotsbury folds the tractor ride into a full working-farm program with cow milking, shearing, stock-whip and working-dog demonstrations, which makes it the easiest half-day for a mixed-age group out of Sydney. Canoelands Orchard runs its tractor on weekends alongside animal feeding and a bookable Farmer for a Day program at $25 per child, ages 3 to 15. Up on the Central Coast, Eastcoast Beverages at Kulnura only runs its orchard tractor tour on its annual Bambino's on the Farm day.

Victoria has the deepest list here at ten farms, and it is also where pricing is clearest. Chesterfield Farm at Scoresby was charging $22 adult and $15 child entry with a $6 tractor ride when we checked — useful as a benchmark for the paid add-on model. Hawkes Farm on the Mornington Peninsula does the opposite: a ticketed Ride 'n' Pick tour of about 45 minutes with a farmer talk and carrots to harvest, $15 per person for the 2026 Easter dates. In the Yarra Valley, Rayner's Orchard at Woori Yallock pairs its guided tractor adventure with fruit tasting, animal feeding and bottling classes.

Queensland is thin here with two listings, so plan around dates rather than turning up hopefully. Ellia's Garden at Rosevale in the Scenic Rim runs tractor hay rides on ticketed public farm days, bundled with animal feeding, a hay-bale castle and seasonal picking — when tickets are not on sale, the gate stays shut. Trevena Glen Farm at Mount Samson, north-west of Brisbane, is a booked-tour operation where tractor and train activities sit alongside pony rides and alpaca, horse and goat walks, with pricing that varies by tour. Both reward a look at the booking page before you drive.
Mount Samson · Brisbane & South-East Queensland

Rosevale (Moorang) · Brisbane & South-East Queensland
Public farm days include tractor hay rides, friendly farm animals, animal feeding and a hay-bale play structure, in addition to seasonal produce picking.
South Australia has two listings, both comfortable day trips from Adelaide and both quite different. Hahndorf Farm Barn in the Adelaide Hills treats the tractor ride as one part of a hands-on program that also takes in bottle-feeding young animals, milking a cow and handling farm animals; online tickets are available and booking is sensible in school holidays. Down on the Fleurieu, Animal Farm Goolwa is the more relaxed option and one of the few on this page you can simply walk into, with adults $15, children $9 and animal feed $1 when checked. Confirm current admission before travelling.
Goolwa · Fleurieu Peninsula
Feed and interact with farm animals; trailer ride
Hahndorf · Adelaide Hills
bottle-feed young animals; milk a cow; feed and handle farm animals; tractor ride
Western Australia carries eight listings, second only to Victoria, and the flavour is distinctly different — several are farm stays where the tractor ride comes with being a guest rather than with a ticket. Four Elements Farm Stay at Wilyabrup in the Margaret River area runs tractor-trailer rides alongside twice-daily animal activities, orchard picking and a marron trap demonstration, while Mary's Farm Cottages at Kukerin combines tractor rides with guided farm tours. For a straight day visit, S&R Orchard in the Perth Hills says every visit includes tractor rides and an animal-farm area, across its blossom, fruit-picking and autumn festivals.
Cookernup · South West WA
Regular family days with guided educational farm tours, train rides, seedling-planting workshops and sensory activities, separate from the final PYO sunflower window.
Glenlynn near Bridgetown · South West WA

These listings are desk-checked against each farm's own website, booking page or official social channel on the date shown — we don't book, inspect or endorse them. Session times, prices and availability change with the season, so confirm directly with the farm, and follow their safety, hygiene and animal-contact instructions on the day.
Prices aren't quoted on a common basis — some farms charge per person, some per family, some per night, and some fold the experience into general farm entry. Of the 28 listings on this page, 7 publish an indicative price; the rest ask you to check with the operator. Each farm's own page shows the pricing note we hold and links out, so confirm the current figure before you book.
We haven't verified any tractor & wagon rides in Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory yet. That's a gap in this directory rather than a claim there are none — if you run or know one, tell us about it.
The 29 listings on this page are not offering the same product, and the difference matters more than the price does. Before you drive anywhere, work out which of these three you are buying.
Only eight of the 29 listings publish a price at all, so for the rest the honest answer is to check the farm's own booking page on the morning you plan to go. If you are weighing up entry fees more broadly, our fruit picking cost guide covers how farms structure charges.
Most of these rides are a farm trailer or wagon towed behind a working tractor — hay bales or bench seating, open sides, no seatbelts and no shade unless a canopy has been rigged. It is a paddock at walking pace, not a theme-park ride, and that is most of the charm.
A few practical things that catch people out:
Seasonally, the picture shifts. Blossom rides run in spring, harvest rides follow the crop, and several listings here are event-only — Ellia's Garden at Rosevale, for instance, runs hay rides on ticketed public farm days rather than continuously. Outside those dates the gate is shut, so check the farm's socials before you commit to the drive.
Advertised tractor, wagon or hay rides that form part of the on-farm visit. On this page we list 28 Australian farms offering tractor & wagon rides, each checked against the operator's own website, booking page or official social channel on the date shown.
We list 28 verified tractor & wagon rides farms across 5 states, grouped by state below. Availability and session times change with the season and the weather, so confirm directly with the farm before you travel — we don't book, inspect or endorse them.
Usually. Most tractor & wagon rides run on set session times, by appointment or as ticketed events, and any farm stays are booked ahead. Each listing shows its access type — walk-in, booking required, seasonal or by appointment — and links to the farm's own booking page where one exists.
It varies by farm and by what's included, and prices aren't quoted on a common basis — some are per person, some per family, some per night. Almost none of these farms publish a ride length, which makes it a fair question to ask when you ring. The clearest figure in this listing set comes from Hawkes Farm at Boneo, whose ticketed Ride 'n' Pick tour runs about 45 minutes around the farm including a talk with Farmer Richard. That is at the long end, because the ride is the whole experience. Where the tractor is a loop inside a farmyard attraction — the pattern at places like Chesterfield Farm or Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm — expect something far shorter and repeatable, closer to a lap of the property than a tour of it. If timing matters for a nap or a drive home, ask the farm directly rather than assuming.
None of the farms in this set publish a minimum age, and a couple hint that babies are welcome — Eastcoast Beverages lists under 12 months free at its Bambino's on the Farm day, and Hawkes Farm lists under twos free. In practice, very small children ride on a lap and prams get folded and left at the gate, because farm trailers are boarded by a step or a short ladder and have open sides with no restraints. Wheelchair and walker access is the one thing genuinely worth phoning about: it varies enormously between a purpose-built children's farm and a working orchard trailer, and it is almost never described on the farm's website. A quick call saves a wasted drive.
Rides are the first thing a farm pulls when the weather turns, because a loaded trailer cuts up wet paddocks and the tracks take weeks to recover. Expect open-trailer rides to be suspended in steady rain even when the farm itself stays open, and expect no warning on the website — the announcement usually goes up on the farm's Facebook or Instagram that morning. For the event-only listings, where a single ticketed date carries the whole experience, ask about the wet-weather policy at the point of booking: some reschedule, some run regardless with ponchos, and refund terms differ farm by farm. If the ride is the reason you are going, build in a fallback date rather than a fallback activity.
