Pick Your Own Farms

Farm experiences in the Northern Territory

The Northern Territory doesn't run pick-your-own farms the way the southern states do, but it offers something few other places can: genuine working cattle stations and outback properties that open their gates to visitors. From the Top End around Darwin and Katherine to the Red Centre near Alice Springs, these are farm stays, station tours and animal encounters on real, often vast, working land.

Everything here is a booked or scheduled experience, and the Territory's seasons matter — most run best in the dry, and roads and access can change quickly. Check what's on and confirm access with each station before you travel.

Frequently asked questions

What farm experiences can you do in the Northern Territory?

The NT's experiences are built around its working stations: cattle-station stays and tours in the Top End at properties like Bullo River and Mount Bundy, farmstays with animals around Katherine, the well-known Katherine Outback Experience show, and Red Centre stations near Alice Springs and Kings Canyon offering tours, camel rides and outback stays.

When is the best time to visit NT farms and stations?

The dry season, roughly May to October, is the visitor season across the Territory. The wet season brings heat, humidity and flooding that can close roads and properties, especially in the Top End, so always confirm the season and access with the station before you travel.

Are there pick-your-own farms in the Northern Territory?

Not on our listings. Pick-your-own farming is genuinely rare in the NT — the Top End is a major mango and melon growing area, but produce is generally sold at the farm gate or market rather than through public pick-your-own sessions. What the Territory does offer visitors is its working stations and farm experiences.
