Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm and Sunray Strawberries are two of the better-known gates in that stretch, both easy day trips from the suburbs.

Chambers Flat is the closest, well under an hour south-west of the CBD, while the Wamuran and Caboolture farms are more like 45 minutes to an hour north. Glass House Mountains growers push closer to the 90-minute mark, so factor that in if you're combining picking with a longer day out.

South-east Queensland grows strawberries as a winter crop, unlike the rest of Australia. The season typically runs June to October, with August and September the reliable peak. That means Brisbane families get fresh pick-your-own strawberries well before southern states even start planting, but a cold snap can still delay the first ripe fruit.

Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm charges around fifteen dollars for adults, which includes a 500 gram punnet, with children roughly half that and infants free; extra fruit picked beyond the punnet is charged by the kilo. Other Brisbane-area farms vary, so it's worth a quick check of current pricing before you head out.

Booking isn't generally required at Brisbane's strawberry farms; most run as walk-up visits during their winter season. It's still worth a phone call beforehand, though, since some smaller growers open only on weekends or tie picking days to an annual festival, so hours can shift week to week.
