Best time to visit the Riverland

The Riverland grows citrus, wine grapes and almonds on a large commercial scale along the Murray, and most of that harvest never opens to the public. The one exception on our books is Nockburra Creek Farm at Kingston-on-Murray, where public mulberry picking has historically run for a single announced weekend in spring — dates move each year and are posted on the farm's Facebook page, so check there or call ahead rather than planning a trip around a fixed date. Outside that window, local visitor centres and farm gates are the best source of any informal picking access that doesn't make it onto a website.
