Fruit picking in the Fleurieu Peninsula

The Fleurieu Peninsula is about an hour's drive south of Adelaide, and its picking farms cluster around two small towns: Mount Compass and Willunga. Harvest the Fleurieu at Mount Compass runs the region's longest season, picking strawberries and a short window of tayberries from October right through to May. Just down the road, The Blueberry Patch grows summer blueberries, with picking mainly through January. Near Willunga, Fleurieu Cherries at Pages Flat opens for a shorter cherry season from around mid-December to mid-January. Between the three, there's picking on offer across most of spring, summer and into autumn, with strawberries the reliable long-season option and cherries and blueberries the shorter summer highlights. As always in this wine and produce region, seasons shift with the weather, so call ahead before you drive down.
