In October, strawberries are picking in Swan Valley. We list 23 farms across this region — browse the listings below and call ahead to confirm what's ripe before you travel.
Swan Valley is Perth's closest picking ground, about 25 minutes from the CBD, and it's built almost entirely around strawberries and table grapes rather than tree fruit. Sandy-soil strawberry patches around Wanneroo, Gnangara, Bullsbrook, Carabooda and Neerabup open from around August and keep going into summer, with Minh Tran's Strawberry Farm at Neerabup and H&N Strawberries at Gnangara among the longer-running names. Once the grapes ripen, Grapes on Swan, Padbury Pickings and Grumpy Grapes Vineyard around Henley Brook and West Swan open their vines from December through to April, and Perth Mango Farm brings a short, popular mango season each summer. With so many small, family-run patches operating on cash-only, weekend-heavy hours, it pays to check a farm's Facebook page or ring ahead before setting out, especially in the shoulder weeks at either end of a crop's season.

Strawberry patches cluster around Wanneroo, Gnangara, Bullsbrook, Carabooda and Neerabup on Perth's northern fringe, including Minh Tran's Strawberry Farm, H&N Strawberries and Sue and Tim's Strawberry Farm. Most open from around August and run into summer, though exact dates shift year to year, so check before heading out.
Grapes on Swan, Padbury Pickings and Grumpy Grapes Vineyard, all around Henley Brook and West Swan, offer pick-your-own table grapes from around December through to April. Swan Valley Fresh Fruit at Millendon and Kafarela's Vineyard at Herne Hill also grow grapes alongside mangoes and figs.
Strawberries run roughly August to February depending on the farm, grapes from December to April, and Perth Mango Farm has a short mango window around February to April. Because most patches are small and weather-dependent, it's worth calling ahead, especially early or late in a crop's season.
Strawberry boxes typically run $10 to $20 depending on the farm and box size, often cash only. Grapes are usually priced per kilogram, around $3 to $6/kg, and Perth Mango Farm charges an entry fee plus around $15/kg for mangoes picked. Prices shift year to year, so confirm on the day.
Most of the strawberry and grape patches are informal, cash-only operations that take walk-ins on their open days rather than requiring bookings. That said, hours can be limited to weekends or a few days a week, so checking a farm's Facebook page or calling ahead saves a wasted trip.
